Harvest is a community of 5,893 people (2020) in northwestern Madison County, part of the Huntsville-Decatur area.
What that means for your plumbing
Harvest mixes newer subdivisions with older homes on larger lots, some on septic. Water heaters, septic lines and long service lines are common jobs; see sewer and septic lines. Newer houses often need small fixes as they settle.
Open country
Fields and woods between neighborhoods mean many homes take the full force of winter wind. Many homes along Jeff Road and Harvest Road sit on lots big enough for gardens, sheds and long sprinkler runs.
A railroad that became a road
The area was Cherokee land until the early 1800s. From the late 1800s, a rail line south from Fayetteville, Tennessee, brought growth, and many early settlers came from that area. The Nashville, Chattanooga and St. Louis Railway abandoned it in 1929, and the old roadbed is now a two-lane county road. Older homes along it often need drain and repiping work; see drain cleaning. Monrovia and Toney are neighboring communities, and plumbers working north of Huntsville cover all three in a day.
