Owens Cross Roads is a city of 2,594 people (2020), estimated at 3,334 in 2025, in Madison County southeast of Huntsville.
What that means for your plumbing
New subdivisions have brought many modern homes alongside older rural properties. Water heaters, fixtures and septic lines are common calls; see water heaters. Growth means a lot of first-time homeowners learning their systems.
Growing fast
The town became a city on October 10, 2022, after passing 2,000 residents. Hampton Cove, just to the north, has brought golf course neighborhoods and new construction close to town.
The Owens home at the crossroads
Pioneers came from Tennessee, Virginia and the Carolinas in the early 1800s, and Thomas J. Owens of Virginia built his family home where two roads met, giving the place its name. It incorporated as a town on October 9, 1967, and is home to Brazelton Cemetery. Older homes near the original crossroads often need repiping; see leak detection. The Flint River runs nearby, and some lower ground holds water after heavy rain.
